HP today announced its record-breaking, long-run production of personalized labels on HP Indigo WS6000 series Digital Presses for Coca-Cola’s biggest-ever personalized brand campaign. The campaign, Share a Coca-Cola, was launched across Europe on May 1.The campaign is designed to help Coca-Cola engage directly with its consumers in 32 countries. It substitutes the iconic Coca-Cola logo on bottles of Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola light and Coca-Cola Zero with 150 of the most popular first names, nicknames and terms of affection in each country.

University of Tokyo professors Masatoshi Ishikawa and Hiroyuki Shinoda have unveiled a system that projects a keyboard or smartphone display onto surfaces like a person’s moving palm or a sheet of paper, in what could be a step toward using computers without having to hold a physical device. The system is activated by passing one’s hand over its detector. It uses a special camera to constantly capture the position of the hand, paper or other projecting surface, on to which a projector creates the image of a keyboard or display.

Asus today announced the dual-band RP-N53 Wi-Fi range extender, which uses strong internal antennas to increase wireless networking coverage. It works in concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz at up to 600Mbit/s alongside routers from Asus and other brands, overcoming obstacles to transmission to eliminate reception dead zones. Customers get stable internet access in bigger and multi-floor environments, including areas such garages, basements, backyards, and roofs. To pair the RP-N53 with routers, customers only need to press the WPS button, and setup is complete. WPS (wireless protected setup) is compatible with routers from Asus and all other brands, plus a wide range of client devices such as PCs, smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and smart TVs.

TDK announced today the SDG4A series of serial ATA II compatible industrial solid state drives (SSDs) in 2.5 inch form factor with a maxi-mum capacity of 512 GByte. The product employs the newly developed TDK SSD Controller GBDriver RS4 Series. Even without using DRAM cache memory, this makes it possible to meet the requirements for SSDs in industrial applications, with an effective access speed of 180 MByte/sec.

WD and SanDisk today announced that the two companies are collaborating to introduce hybrid storage devices that feature best-in-class flash memory technology from SanDisk and best-in-class hard drive technology from WD.
