Kyocera successfully completed interoperability testing (IOT) of its WiMAX indoor pico base station with the Access Services Network (ASN) Gateway on the ASR 5000 from Cisco. By incorporating Cisco’s ASN Gateway on the ASR 5000, Kyocera may provide its end-to-end WiMAX indoor solutions to Mobile WiMAX operators.Kyocera has two types of MIMO-Based WiMAX regenerative repeaters; Public Repeaters for large and medium-sized office buildings, and Home/SME Repeaters for residential-use and small and medium-sized enterprises. Kyocera also provides an indoor WiMAX pico base station named the Super Picocell Base Station for high data traffic areas.

In the WiMAX market, enhancement of indoor coverage is a key factor in maintaining existing customers and developing new customers as a majority of wireless data communications are performed indoors.
