Canon U.S.A,today announced the launch of Canon PIXMA Comix, an interactive new application found on the Canon U.S.A. Facebook page that empowers fans to create fun, personalized photo comic strips to print and share with friends or share socially. Highlighting the Full HD Movie Print technology found in My Image Garden software, this application brings users’ adventures to life. Whether it’s video of a friend surfing a giant wave, photos of a baby’s first steps, or photos and video from the annual summer barbeque, Canon PIXMA Comix allows users to utilize up to six images to create a personalized comic strip.

Sony’s new interface unit allows 2K RAW and 4K RAW recording directly from the NEX-FS700 camcorder, giving professional users a significant jump in performance, a broader choice of creative tools and unprecedented production flexibility. The NEX-IFR5 interface unit connects the NEX-FS700 to Sony’s new AXS-R5 RAW recording system, creating a powerful combination that takes full advantage of the camcorder’s 4K imager. The NEX-IFR5 interface receives the uncompressed bit-stream carrying RAW sensor data, metadata, timecode and start/stop commands from the NEX-FS700U via 3G-SDI. The FS700 RAW files are recorded to the AXS memory cards in the AXS-R5 RAW recorder, where they can be screened and converted using Sony’s free RAW Viewer software.

Tamron today announces a prototype LWIR (Long-Wave Infrared) 3X zoom lens, 35-105mm F/1.6 (Model #SC001) designed for VGA resolution FPA (Focal Plane Array) with 17㎛ pixel pitch in a compact and lightweight lens design. The lens covers a versatile focal length range of 35-105mm, equivalent to approximately 110-330mm in 35mm film format, with a constant maximum aperture of F/1.6 throughout the entire range. The lens provides excellent illumination characteristics from center to corner and incident angle to FPA optimally designed to minimize any adverse influence on shading to make the most of the 640 x 480 or 640 x 512 pixel arrays.

NHK has developed a remote-controlled, multi-view camera system for providing dynamic images of objects at different positions and in motion. Multi-view imaging involves surrounding the objects (e.g. sports players) with a number of cameras, which can provide a virtual all-round view of them at any point of time. Existing systems have only been able to capture the objects from a limited number of vantage points, owing to the fixed direction of the cameras. NHK, however, has come up with a means of ensuring that all of the cameras can maintain the same look-at point, by having eight cameras (for pans, tilts and zooms) move in tandem with one main camera.
