Watermelon sold for US$4,356.00 in Japan


Yes that is the price fetched by a watermelon in Japan. A Dendekesuika watermelon fetched 530,000 yen Thursday at the pricey fruit’s first auction of the season at a market in Asahikawa. The black-rind watermelons, a specialty of the town of Toma in Hokkaido,Japan.


Dendekesuika watermelon sell for around 5,000 yen ($41) apiece during peak season in July.
