EIZO today announced the FlexScan EV2216W, an LED-backlit 22-inch monitor with EIZO-developed dimming technologies to eliminate screen flicker and reduce eye fatigue. The FlexScan EV2216W is the first EcoView monitor with a 22-inch screen and 1680 x 1050 native resolution (16:10 aspect ratio). The brightness dimming methods used with conventional LED-backlit monitors cause some users to see flicker which can result in eye fatigue. The FlexScan EV2216W incorporates an EIZO-developed solution that regulates brightness to make flicker unperceivable without compromising color stability. Even at just 1% of the maximum brightness the monitor remains flicker-free.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will launch Japans new solid-fuel rocket Epsilin-1 ) with the Spectroscopic Planet Observatory for Recognition of Interaction of Atmosphere (SPRINT-A) satellite onboard on Aug. 22, (Thursday, Japan Standard Time). The launch time is between 1:30 thru 2:30 p.m. (JST), and the launch site is the Uchinoura Space Center.

Mitsubishi Electric announced today that it will globally enhance business relating to smart meters, which are advanced electricity meters with communication functions, in collaboration with its partner Echelon. Mitsubishi Electric will integrate Echelon’s Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) into its lineup of smart meter products, which are designed for international markets. Mitsubishi Electric’s new smart meters will incorporate grid-sensing and communication technologies based on Echelon’s OGSP and its Networked Energy Services (NES) software as well as Mitsubishi Electric’s proprietary sensing and metering technologies.

Japan Display has developed a high pixel density 5.2-inch full HD OLED prototype display. Japan Display accomplished the development of a Full-HD high-resolution (423ppi) display by successfully integrating high-resolution LTPS backplane, white OLED, and display driving technologies. JDI’s efforts have resulted in direct view OLED display, by implementing a white OLED and using a true Full-HD RGBW sub-pixel arrangement to achieve a high quality display with real Full-HD resolution. Full-HD resolution is becoming the mainstream mobile display resolution in mobile devices, such as smartphones.

Mitsubishi Motors announced that its next-generation global compact sedan- Attrage, will be launched in the Thai market this July. The Attrage qualifies for the Thai government’s Eco-car Project and will be produced at MMC’s third factory at the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate in Chonburi province in Thailand.The Attrage is expected to achieve a fuel efficiency of 22 km/liter, among the best in its class, achieved with a combination of uncompromising weight reduction throughout.

Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors and NMKV today commemorated the off-line ceremony for the new minicar, which Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors will release in June across Japan, at Mitsubishi Motors’ Mizushima Plant. The new mini-car to be launched under the model names of Nissan DAYZ and DAYZ Highway STAR, and the Mitsubishi eK Wagon and eK Custom, is the first model jointly planned and developed by a joint venture, NMKV, engaging in the minicar business for both companies.
