Tokyo Gas and Panasonic have jointly developed a new version of their Ene-Farm home fuel cell. Panasonic manufactures the fuel cell unit and supplies it to Tokyo Gas in combination with a hot water unit and backup heat source produced by Gastar , a subsidiary of Tokyo Gas. The price of the new product will be 1,995,000 yen ($ 22514.00, with the standard backup heat source; including tax; excluding installation fee). This is about 760,000 yen ($8576) less than the recommended retail price of the Ene-Farm model currently on the market, made possible by a reduction in the number of components. The new product also achieved an overall efficiency of 95.0% (LHV) – the world’s highest.
HP today officially opened its new headquarters lobby and Executive Briefing Center, a 37,700-square-foot addition to its existing headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif. The addition, designed by Gensler and constructed by Rudolph and Sletten, features transparent floor-to-ceiling glass with cable-net curtain wall detail and is erected around a California Heritage Oak tree and courtyard. The Executive Briefing Center is currently awaiting LEED-CI Platinum certification and aligns with HP’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from HP-owned and HP-leased facilities by 20 percent relative to 2005 levels by the end of 2013.
NEC recently performed the world’s first successful trial of real-time 1Tb/s super-channel transmission using 100GbE subcarriers over a trans-oceanic distance. With 100 GB/s technologies now commercially deployed, the focus of recent development is turning to high capacity channels, beyond 100Gb/s, with more efficient bandwidth utilization. As part of this movement, NEC has proposed optical superchannels to increase fiber capacity in both terrestrial and submarine networks. Optical superchannels are based on advanced technologies such as parallel high-speed transceivers, advanced modulation formats and advanced pulse shaping.

Panasonic India launched its first model eco ideas Factory in India, Technopark in Jhajjar, Haryana. This new state-of-the-art facility serves as a milestone for Panasonic to showcase its best practices in sustainable manufacturing. Spread across 76 acres, it was opened with an investment of USD 200 million (from 2010 to 2015). Panasonic Technopark will house facilities that can manufacture an estimated 1,000,000 sets of air conditioners, 400,000 sets of washing machines and 25,000 sets of welding and cutting machines per annum. This manufacturing facility is designed with various green features, such as 28.29 KWp solar modules installation at the rooftop of the office, entrance canopy and car park to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and a 100% water recycling system for a sustainable water provision.
