Panasonic Brings Roland Garros Live in 3D to Living Rooms Across Europe

During the entire period of the 2011 French Tennis Open, Roland Garros, sports fans with 3D-capable TVs in Europe have a chance to enjoy exciting tennis matches right from their living rooms provided in collaboration with Panasonic. This year Roland Garros is being broadcasted live in 3D to over seventeen countries across Europe in cooperation with Eurosport, making it one of the first multi-day sporting events available in 3D to thousands of European homes. The 3D broadcasting of the event is also being provided in France in partnership with Orange.

Panasonic’s leading innovative technologies are being used extensively in the 3D filming production at Roland Garros, using equipment such as Panasonic’s latest and upcoming 3D camcorder, AG-3DP1 (Link to Press Release), making its first debut in live broadcasting.This P2HD series 3D camcorder comes with a newly developed 17x twin lens zoom lens system (tentative) and features an expanded range for both wide-angle and telephoto settings to provide an angle of view for diverse shooting situations. It combines high-sensitivity, high-resolution sensors and high-quality 3D HD recording in a compact package, making it easily portable for high action filming like sports events and movie production.
