Apple Mac Pro and Xserve — the fastest Macs ever built

Its really strange that Apple released two powerful desktop computers ahead of Macworld 2008. According to Cupertino based company, the Mac Pro and Xserve are their fastest machines with dual Intel 45nm quad core processors. The new Mac Pro is based on 3.2 GHz 8-core Xeon processor, providing 1600 MHz front side bus and 800 MHz memory. It is equipped with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card with 256MB of video memory, PCI Express 2.0 graphics slot, max 4TB storage, sexy Apple keyboard, Bluetooth, and Leopard operating system. “The new Mac Pro is the fastest Mac we’ve ever made,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.


The Xserve can be configured with up to two Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5400 series processors running up to 3.0 GHz with 12MB of L2 cache per processor. It features up to 32GB of 800 MHz DDR2 ECC FB-DIMM memory for a 64 percent increase in memory throughput, two PCI Express 2.0 expansion slots, 3TB hard drive, built-in accelerated graphics to drive up to a 23-inch Apple Cinema Display, 10Gb Ethernet cards and Leopard.
The Mac Pro and Xserve are now shipping for $2,799 and $2999 respectively.
