The Asus DSAN-DX offers a 6-port SATA storage interface that supports S/W RAID 1, 10, 5 for Windows via a built-in Intel Matrix Storage driver; while the bundled LSI MegaRAID provides enhanced S/W RAID 1, 10 support for major Linux distributions. The new Asus DSAN-DX serverboard is the right choice for users and organizations that require a serverboard that can support enterprise-class and computing demanding applications.
Taipei, Taiwan, March 5, 2008 – Catering to users and organizations that require a serverboard that can support enterprise-class and computing demanding applications, ASUS, producer of high quality server hardware, has released the new ASUS DSAN-DX serverboard. Featuring ASUS´ unique PIKE (Proprietary I/O Kit Expansion) and Flex-E (Flexibility of PCI-E) technology, it incorporates cutting-edge technology that includes support for the latest 45nm Intel® Xeon® 5400/5200 processor, FSB 1333MHz and DDR2 667/533 – making the DSAN-DX the best serverboard choice.
Flexible Storage with ASUS PIKE (Proprietary I/O Kit Expansion)
ASUS provides an optional PIKE 1064E (4-port SAS) and PIKE 1078 (8-port SAS with Hardware RAID5 & RAID6) for on-demand SAS RAID support, without occupying slot 6 in the 1U chassis – allowing customers to invest on basic SKUs for current use and further reducing qualification resource and inventory management efforts.
ASUS Flex-E (Flexibility of PCI-E) for Auto-switching of PCI-E Configurations
This unique feature makes the DSAN-DX a dual-use serverboard. The PCI Express x16 (x16 link) will automatically switch to x8 link if the PCI Express x8 (x8 link) on slot five is occupied, therefore allowing users to enjoy the flexibility of server/workstation mode. PCI Express x16 (x16 link) supports professional workstation graphic cards; while PCI Express x16 (x8 link) is ideal for Infiniband HBA, SATA RAID HBA, internal and external SATA RAID HBA in Storage utilization.
