OKI ML7246- IEEE802.15.4 wireless LSI equipped with a USB interface
Oki today announced it will ship samples of “ML7246,” an IEEE802.15.4 wireless LSI equipped with a USB interface. The LSI reduces packaging and development costs and contributes power savings for the IEEE802.15.4 dongle) used in PC peripheral devices. The chip can be operated using an HID class device driver, which is a standard on PCs. Therefore, there is no need to install a specific device driver. The Oki ML7246 includes functions to recover to the normal PC mode when frames are sent from another party when the PC is in standby mode. With this function, users can set the PC on standby mode when there are no communications, which saves power for the overall system.
OKI plans to provide this product to remote control and sensor network markets and ship the LSI in volume from January 2008.
