SanDisk today introduced Lightning PCI Express (PCIe) Solid State Accelerator (SSA) cards designed to boost the performance of workstations and servers used in data centers, server farms and cloud computing environments. These accelerators are designed to provide an affordable solution for speed and scalable performance in workstations, servers, data centers and cloud computing environments. Lightning PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) SSAs deliver low latency data access with low maximum response times. Based on a proprietary innovative controller design, Lightning SSAs place minimal demand on CPU resources, enabling applications to run faster, and eliminates the need for additional DRAM, reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
Lighting SSAs offer flexibility with the ability to be used as boot drive, caching device, and can support up to five cards for a 2TB capacity in a single system. Lightning SSAs offer SanDisk’s proven enterprise SSD technology in an add-in card form factor in 200GB and 400GB Gen 2.0 (x4) capacities, and easily installs with plug-and-play functionality into any x4 or greater PCIe slot. SanDisk Lightning PCIe Enterprise SSAs will be available for purchase in 200GB (LP 206M) and 400GB (LP406M) capacities for $1,350 and $2,350 respectively at select authorized retailers in North America.
