Sumitomo Electric starts sample shipments of Thunderbolt cables

Sumitomo Electric Industries has commenced sample shipments of Thunderbolt electrical cables. These cables are scheduled to be marketed in October of this year. Thunderbolt is a new high-speed PC connection technology developed by Intel that provides for data rates of 10 Gbps and supports both PCI Express and DisplayPort with its dual-protocol solution. This technology is utilized in Thunderbolt cables that contain high-speed signal processing circuits in their connectors.
