Toshiba today announced the launch of a 6TB enterprise capacity hard disk drive (HDD) optimized for servers supporting cloud-based applications and analytic workloads. With a 3.5-inch form factor, the new product, MC04ACA600E, delivers 6TB of storage with a performance of 7,200 rotations per minute (rpm), suitable for workloads and storage requirements generated by cloud computing. Sample shipment will start from August.
The new 6TB model expands the line-up of the MC04ACA series, currently available in capacities of 2TB, 3TB, 4TB and 5TB. The MC04ACA series supports cloud use-case workloads of up to 180TB per year. The Toshiba MC04ACA series utilizes industry-standard 3.5-inch 26.1mm height form factor, 6.0 Gbit/s SATA interface and Advanced Format 512e sector technology for optimum capacity and application compatibility.
