Fujifilm launches ultra-resilient FinePix XP200 camera with Wi-Fi

Fujifilm today announced the addition of a further model to its XP range of tough cameras. The FinePix XP200 defines new standards for all-weather digital compacts (15m Waterproof, 2m Shockproof, Sand/Dustproof and -10°C Freezeproof), building on the success of previous Fujifilm XP models. The well-designed XP200 features an internal 5x optical FUJINON zoom lens (28 – 140mm). The XP200 combines its 5x optical zoom with Intelligent Digital Zoom which results in double the zoom range (10x) whilst offering optimum image processing to counteract the degradation that has traditionally occurred when digital zooms are used.

At the very core of the XP200 is the camera’s 1/2.3-inch 16 million pixel CMOS sensor. With ISO sensitivity up to 6400*7 and CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation, image capture is handled with ease ensuring that sharp, clear pictures are produced, even in challenging low-light conditions. Blur free pictures are achieved through the CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation which corrects the effects of any slight shake of the hand when depressing the shutter.

For the first time, via Wi-Fi, Fujifilm’s all-weather digital compact is able to offer a means to back up your photos on your home PC. Just install the free FUJIFILM PC AutoSave software onto your PC and select which folder you want the photos to back up to. For smartphones and tablets you will need to download the free dedicated “FUJIFILM Camera Application” to your iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet device to transfer up to 30 pictures at a time from the FinePix XP200. The XP200 can record Full 1080i HD movies (60fps). The performance of the Image Stabilization for movie recording has also been greatly improved than previous XP series. In addition, high speed recording is also available at frame rates of up to 360fps.
3D
High speed multi-frame processing lets you record two shots or more at different exposures and then combine them to achieve High Dynamic Range (HDR) shots with natural contrast that preserves details in the highlights and shadows. Motion Panorama 360 lets you create a 360° panoramic shot just by selecting the mode & pressing the shutter button and spinning round in a circle. Individual shutter 3D lets you create fun images with a 3D effect by combining two shots taken from slightly different angles.

The XP200 is a well-designed rugged camera with an excellent core specification that will withstand the wear and tear of your adventures. It’s got extra grip in case your hands are wet and is incredibly simple to operate, even if you’re wearing ski gloves. The FinePix XP200 measures 116.1mm x 71.4mm x 30.3mm, weighs approx.232g (including battery and memory card) and will be available in May 2013 for approximately $299.95, in black, yellow, blue and red.
