Pentax Ricoh today announced the launch of the Pentax Q7 digital lens-interchangeable camera. Developed as the top-of-the-line model of the Pentax Q series, this new model is equipped with an image sensor much larger than those of its sister Q-series models for upgraded image quality, while retaining the super-compact, ultra-lightweight body that comfortably fits in the photographer’s palm. Launched as the flagship model of the popular Pentax Q series, the Pentax Q7 offers casual, carefree digital-SLR-quality photography to everyone. Thanks to a new 1/1.7-inch, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor — the largest in the Q series — the Q7 delivers image quality that has been much improved from its sister models.
Pentax Q7 offers a host of the advanced features expected in a top-of-the-series model, including high-sensitivity shooting at a top sensitivity of ISO 12800 (compared to ISO 6400 for the Q10); improved shake-reduction performance; reduced operation time lag at start-up and between exposures; and effortless, user-friendly operation. In addition, it features an array of creative tools such as Bokeh Control and Smart Effect, which assist the photographer in easily creating more personalized images.
The Q7 features a high-resolution 3.0-inch, 3:2-proportion LCD monitor with approximately 460,000 dots. The monitor has been treated with AR (Anti-Reflection) coating to offer sharp, bright images even under bright sunshine by effectively minimizing glare and reflection on the screen. Since its wide-view design makes it possible to view the image from 170 degrees horizontally and vertically, the user has a clear view of the image even when facing the monitor diagonally.
The Q7 captures beautiful Full HD movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels, at 30 frames per second, in the H.264 recording format) with minimal noise, even during high-sensitivity recording at ISO 12800. A new interval HD movie recording function adds more creativity to visual expression.
The Q7 kit with 02 zoom lens is available to order today in a choice of 120 color combinations at pentaximaging.com and retail outlets nationwide in August 2013 with a suggested retail price of $499.95. The 07 Mount Shield lens will be available for purchase online and at retail outlets nationwide in July 2013with a suggested retail price of $79.95.
