Sony’s low-priced NSC-GC1 digital camcorder will appeal to the growing group of social networking enthusiasts and bloggers that are frequently uploading video to the Web. With a 2 MB Memory Stick ProDuo media card, the pocket-sized Sony NSC-GC1 can record and store about five hours of web-ready (MPEG-4) video footage in the default recording setting. It can record in QVGA quality at 15 fps; or VGA at 30 fps. It can also take 5 MP digital images. Once ready to upload to the PC, you simply use the “sharemark” button to select which videos and photos you want to upload. Sony NSC-GC1 comes with built-in flash, and a 2.4-inch colour LCD and 4x digital zoom. The digital camcorder is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The battery life is about 90 minutes.
Weighing just about 141 g, the Sony NSC-GC1 Net-sharing CAM will be available in September for about $200.
