Panasonic and Sanyo, a member of the Panasonic Group, announced that the Kasai Green Energy Park (GEP), the Panasonic Group’s next-generation environmentally-friendly facility, has today been awarded the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Minister’s Award in the Energy-saving by IT category of the Green IT Award 2011, the highest level award in the category, for its wide variety of technologies aimed at reducing the CO2 emissions of the facility. The Kasai GEP was chosen for the award for the multifaceted approach taken to reducing CO2 emissions at the facility, including the use of solar modules for energy creation, large-scale storage battery systems for energy storage and the visualization of energy usage at the facility implemented through IT, and for providing many insights into how to combine energy creation and energy storage systems in the future, for which it was highly appraised.
The Green IT Award is an award established in 2008 by the Green IT Promotion Council with the cooperation of METI to promote efforts in the field of “Green IT” by recognizing and honoring energy-saving IT equipment, software and services and the systems and solutions that utilize them.
