Oslux LED for smartphones provides very consistent illumination for photos

Osram Opto Semiconductors has added a new type of LED to its well-known Oslux family. With flash applications compromises no longer have to be accepted – due to its specially shaped lens the Oslux LED can be discreetly fitted in the device. Thanks to its high output power the new LED is also capable of taking perfectly illuminated shots with cellphones. This means design and function of smartphones work together even more closely. The Oslux LED has two chips with 1 square millimeter of light surface each. The light-emitting surface of the rectangular LED is optimized for the optics of the cellphone – the surface is flat and finishes properly with the cover. When switched off, the LED is barely noticeable. When in use, high quality white illuminates the target area.

The Oslux LED provides very consistent illumination for photos. Even at a distance of 1 m a brightness level of 150 lux is achieved. When flashing, the light is evenly distributed and shines into the corners of the rectangular illuminated image. As all the elements of the flash are combined in a single component, the Oslux LED is also easily integrated. The LED is exceptionally durable and resistant to shocks and vibrations – and its power means it can manage even multiple repeated flashes.
