TAIPEI, TAIWAN, March 10, 2008 – With two recently-released models in the 4000+ ANSI lumen category and more models planned for 2008, BenQ – the world’s leading DLP® projector supplier – is firmly committed to meeting the fast-growing demand in the high-brightness segment. The SP870 (5000 ANSI lumen) and SP831 (4000 ANSI lumen) include numerous advancements that optimize lamp output for exceptional color, clarity and brilliance that amaze even in full lights-on environments.
Beyond being just a contender in the high-lumen segment, BenQ aims to set new industry expectations as well with models that are considerably lighter, smaller and more affordable, while still including premium features such as BrilliantColor™ Technology, Hollywood Quality Video™ (HQV™) processing and Split-Screen functionality.
“The market is rapidly moving toward high-brightness projection and, as always, BenQ will deliver the best selection and products to help ProAV dealers fulfill the latest consumer needs,” said Peter Chen, General Manager of BenQ Technology Product Center. “High-brightness is a principal focus for our 2008 projector campaign.”
High Lumens + BenQ Engineering = Powerful Lights-On Presentations
Ideal for the largest venues such as lecture halls, auditoriums, board rooms and museums, the SP870 and SP831 combine high lumen count with BenQ’s projector expertise for superior picture quality without compromise, even in full lights-on settings. Both models pair high lumen output with an outstanding 2000:1 contrast ratio, rendering fine details such as text, data, spreadsheets and charts in razor-sharp clarity and precise color – a priority for business, education and government applications. Audiences will also appreciate the projectors’ extreme lights-on brightness that facilitates note-taking, movement and multiple activities.
“High lumen output is a very important specification for many applications, but the right engineering to optimize that output is equally essential,” said Chen. “With 13 years of expertise in projector engineering, BenQ has incorporated the best technologies into our SP Series for presentations that are unmatched in color accuracy, clarity and convenience features, even in fully-lit settings.”
Both the SP870 and SP831 utilize BenQ’s advanced golden ratio color wheel designs and BrilliantColor Technology for color fidelity and vibrancy that impress far beyond the regular 3-color capabilities of conventional projectors. Hues often found in natural scenes, such as vibrant yellow and cyan – which other projectors struggle with – are effortlessly and precisely rendered in full saturation and boldness. BrilliantColor also boosts brightness of low level colors, such as the palest of pastels, to over 50% for remarkable warmth and depth. The company’s current and upcoming high-brightness models also utilize Texas Instruments’ DLP technology for amplified native contrast ratios and higher fill factor. The benefits are seen in sharper, cleaner, easier-to-read details and more stunning color intensity. The SP831 employs a 6-segment color wheel; the SP870 uses a 5-segment color wheel.
SP870: The Perfect Presentation Partner
Presentations are a breeze and a pleasure with the 5000 ANSI lumen SP870. Convenience features such as Presentation Timer, Quick Auto Source (the industry’s fastest source detection), 30-second Quick Cooling, Lamp Care, Wall Color Correction and Blackboard Mode allow users to focus on a perfect presentation instead of fumbling with setup. User operation is further enhanced with the SP870’s Wired Remote and 12V Trigger. The smart Wired Remote enables confident control of the SP870 without unexpectedly interfering with other projectors or devices in the same room – an essential feature for large auditoriums that house several projectors, screens, and other supporting devices. The 12V Trigger enables seamless integration of external devices like motorized screen.
The SP870 further elevates high-brightness pleasure with 3D Color Management. Users can dictate complete color customization by independently adjusting hues, gain and saturations levels of all colors without compromising each other. If a scene contains an apple, a blueberry, a banana and green grapes, users can intensify the apple’s red hue without affecting the colors of the other fruits. The SP870 has a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution.
SP831: Versatility with Split Screen and HQV
The SP831 offers Split Screen for heightened productivity and convenience by displaying two different information sources simultaneously. With WXGA resolution, the SP831 can equally split the screen into two side-by-side sections that are each 640×768 (for a combined 1280×768). Images can be either still, video, or both. Additionally, HQV processing elevates standard definition images to high definition quality via advanced de-interlacing, noise reduction and scaling techniques. High-impact, richly-colored presentations are made possible by full 10-bit color processing and Independent Color Management.
BenQ’s ultra-brightness projectors also include smart appointments tailored to large corporate, education, government and public display customers. Password Function and Panel Keypad Lock provide peace of mind and security. Auto-Off and a filter-free design reduce power consumption and costs associated with filter replacement and cleaning, which appeal to customers sensitive to total cost of ownership. HDCP and HDTV compatibility, numerous preset modes and Windows® Vista™ Basic certification expand versatility. At 10lbs. and 10.8lbs, the SP831 and SP870, respectively, are as much as 70% lighter than competitor models in the same lumen category.
The SP831 and SP870 are now available worldwide.
