Fujitsu video decoder IC MB86H60 Supports Both MPEG-2, H.264

Fujitsu’s new video decoder IC MB86H60 features up to 1920 x 1080 resolution and supports the MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC coding formats. The Fujitsu MB86H60 is targeted for use in TVs and set-top-boxes (STBs) supporting the HDTV broadcasting in Europe, and portable receivers. The IC supports up to 1920 x 1080 interlace mode at 50 or 60fps and 1280 x 720 progressive mode at 50 or 60fps. It also supports 1440 x 1080i/50fps, 1440 x 1080i/60fps, 720 x 576i/50fps and 720 x 480i/60fps.
The Fujitsu IC is compliant with the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) standard used in Europe and other regions. It is capable of MPEG-2 Main Profile/High Level complaint decoding as well as H.264/AVC High Profile/Level 4.0.


Provided with four video transfer ports, the IC can be connected to video recorders and a conditional access card to view restricted digital broadcasts. In addition, it has the USB2.0, 10/100 Base-T and ATA interfaces. The standard power consumption is 1.2W. Fujitsu’s new video decoder IC MB86H60 was manufactured using 90nm process technology and is packaged in a 484-pin PBGA. Fujitsu will start shipping samples from the end of May 2008 at ¥5,000 (US$48).
