LG Display to unveil Crystal Sound OLED – a display with a sound system embedded in it and paper-thin OLED display at CES 2017

LG Display will showcase its cutting-edge displays at CES 2017 today. In an industry first, LG Display will introduce Crystal Sound OLED – a brand-new technology achievable only through OLED, as it does not require backlights. Crystal Sound OLED is a panel containing an embedded sound system – which essentially makes the display a standalone TV. In addition to superior picture quality, it maximizes the immersive viewing experience by offering direct sound from the characters on the screen as they speak, instead of off-center sound from speakers. The company will unveil 55-inch and 65-inch UHD Crystal Sound OLED products.

LG Display will unveil Wallpaper OLEDs, paper-thin 65-inch and 77-inch UHD OLED displays for TVs that can be attached to the wall. It will also showcase 55-inch FHD transparent OLED displays, 77-inch UHD double-sided OLED displays and pillar-type commercial displays that combine six 77-inch UHD OLED panels.
For the automotive sector, LG Display will showcase future displays that take the technology to the next level. Plastic OLED technology combines unbeatable image quality and perfect black expression; on the design front, it comes in large sizes and offers high design flexibility. Notably, plastic OLED is optimal for interior design for autos as it harmonizes with curved surfaces. LG Display will showcase large-sized cluster displays, center information displays and passenger-seat displays, which are designed to improve safety and convenience. In addition, futuristic concept products, including large-sized transparent OLED and mirror OLED displays, will provide visitors with the experience of being in an actual vehicle of the future.
Of particular interest, the company will introduce its exclusive WCG technology called IPS Nano Color, which delivers richer and more accurate colors through the use of nanoparticles. In addition to the advantage of the wide viewing angle in IPS technology, it provides more accurate colors at different angles. The exhibit will include a 65-inch UHD product. LG Display will introduce 5.5-inch QHD plastic OLED to highlight its entry into the small and medium OLED market, as well as circular and square-type plastic OLED products for smartwatches.
