Sharp collaborated with Microsoft in the development of a smartphone KIN for the U.S. and European markets. KIN supports Microsoft’s new cloud computing service with an optimized GUI (Graphic User Interface), enabling smooth interaction for social networking in mobile communication. KIN was developed by merging Sharp’s cutting-edge technologies and expertise for mobile phone development and LCD, with Microsoft’s cloud computing service and software technology. Users can view information updated in SNS by friends and family members on the phone in real time, without the need to navigate through SNS applications. KIN provides a new communication lifestyle, with consistently simple operation for sending messages and sharing favorite photos and movies with friends.

The home screen of the phone remains always on as the Kin brings together feeds from social networks such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. KIN will be available in Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain in the fall in partnership with Vodafone.
