Samsung and LG, the world’s No. 2 and No. 4 makers of mobile phones, reported that sales of their touch-screen handsets have surpassed 20 million units, Telecoms Korea reports. Samsung and LG have increasingly introduced mobile phones with touch-screens, which can detect the presence of a touch within the display.
Both companies reached the 20-million milestones about two years after they began selling such products. The global market for smartphones with touch-screens is expected to triple to 500 million units in 2012, compared with an anticipated 170 million units this year, industry data showed.
