Sorry Samsung – Apple is the undisputed smartphone King of GALAXY

Market researcher Strategy Analytics on Monday said Apple accounted for 42.7 percent of global smartphone revenues during the fourth quarter of last year, compared to Samsung’s 28.7 percent. Apple sold 27.4 million iPhones 5 in the last fourth quarter, compared to only 11.6 million LTE smartphones sold by Samsung. Samsung ranked first in the previous quarter in terms of both unit sales and revenues, but strong sales of Apple’s new iPhone 5 unveiled in September last year were responsible for the switch.

Samsung is poised to unveil its latest model, the Galaxy S4, in New York City on Thursday and hopes strong sales will help it regain the No. 1 spot. LG rose to the No. 3 spot in global smartphone revenues for the first time thanks to solid sales of its Optimus G and Nexus models.
