New technology to diagnose pregnancy using smartphones is expected to be commercialized in South Korea during the latter part of the year. Equipment will be connected to smartphones to diagnose pregnancy. By photographing saliva with a smartphone equipped with a microscope, pregnancy test results can be obtained by evaluating ovulatory cycles. A small microscope will be mounted onto a smartphone, and an application that measures and saves ovulatory cycle information will be developed.
The Daeju Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (DGMIF) signed an agreement with Jongno Medical Appliances to transfer the technology as a means to commercialize mobile health care technologies. Over the next six months, the DGMIF will commercialize the technology developed by Jongno Medical Appliances. The Medical Appliance Center will decipher the results of the test and save the data, providing ovulation alarms and schedules.
