The Marubeni information corporation sells the Altec Lansing active speaker “M602” for iPod from October in Japan. The Altec Lansing M602 is an attractively designed stereo speaker system with a built-in dock that recharges your iPod as well as a composite video output for displaying iPod videos on TVs. Its line-in jack and included patch cable lets you attach any audio device, not just iPods. The four specially engineered full-range neodymium speakers smoothly deliver a full spectrum of pure, distinct sound. A series of five blue LEDs hidden behind the grille light up at varying intensities to indicate volume level; they also indicate bass and treble levels when you press the bass or treble button. You can use the buttons on the top of the M602 to adjust volume and tone and control playback via your iPod, or you can use the small white infrared remote to do both.

The Altec Lansing M602 measures 354×137×208mm ,weighs approximately 2.5Kg and is available from early October for approximately 26,800 Yen ($227). The Altec Lansing active speaker system M602 offers decent sound, with richer bass than you’d expect from a speaker system that’s this compact.
