Samsung reinforced its superior technology leadership, receiving the world’s first picture quality validation for the unrivaled picture quality of its 55” OLED TV, UL, a global independent safety science company, presented the validation. The validation is the first for any OLED TV in the industry and highlights Samsung’s leadership in the development of next-generation technology. Throughout the extensive validation process, Samsung’s underwent a number of tests including assessments on basic picture elements such as brightness, color and uniformity. Given the distinct and unique picture quality of an OLED TV, UL also adopted a new testing method: Emotional Image Quality Evaluation.

The testing method measures the unique picture quality of the OLED TV by using 3D color space instead of 2D, allowing the test practitioner to measure the depth of color expression and contrast ratios. The new evaluation system can correctly examine every color that an OLED panel can produce, yielding accurate results. The certificate also follows the recent, world-first recognition in the UHD TV category from UL and German certification firm, TÜV Rheinland, for the unparalleled picture quality of Samsung’s UHD TV.
