At NAB 2016 Sony announced its new 4K OLED monitor – PVM-X550. Sony’s new PVM-X550 is a 55-inch 4K OLED monitor designed for client viewing and verifying 4K footage during production. The PVM-X550 is a quad-view OLED monitor, allowing customized individual display settings across four distinct views in HD, including: Electro-Optical Transfer Function (EOTF), Color space, Transfer Matrix and color temperature. Contrast, Bright and Chroma, Interface (3G-SDI, HD-SDI including Single Link/Dual Link and HDMI), and Signal structure (RGB and YCBCR). The new Sony PVM-X550 is equipped with the same signal-processing engine as the BVM-X300, providing a 12-bit output signal for picture accuracy and consistency. It also supports industry standard color spaces including the wider ITU-R BT.2020 for Ultra High Definition. These all work in tandem with Sony’s TRIMASTER EL technology.
PVM-X550 monitor delivers quad-viewing flexibility in a size that meets the need for larger, more detailed monitors in post-production suites. And, it’s a perfect complement to Sony BVM-X300 30-inch 4K OLED critical evaluation reference monitor. The Sony PVM-X550 supports HDR through Electro-Optical Transfer Functions (EOTF), such as S-Log3, SMPTE ST.2084 and Hybrid Log-Gamma, covering applications for both cinematography and broadcast. The PVM-X550’s narrow bezel, lightweight design and off-axis viewing performance make it suited to wall mounting, a benefit in live production environments where space is often at a premium. The PVM-X550 is planned to be available in summer 2016
