Packages and envelopes containing 10,000-yen bills have been found in men’s rooms at more than 10 prefectural and municipal office buildings in Japan. The total amount of the abandoned bills has been estimated at around 2 million yen so far. In most cases, the bills were wrapped with white paper or put in envelopes with a message saying, “Please make use of them for disciplining,” according to the authorities.
The local governments have handed the bills over to the police as lost property and it remains unknown who left them and for what purpose.
