LG.Philips LCD to Expand its 7th Generation Plant Production Capacity

LG.Philips LCD a leading innovator of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, announced today that it has decided to increase the design capacity of its 7th generation TFT-LCD plant (P7) located in Paju, Korea, from 90,000 to 110,000 input sheets of glass substrate per month. In accordance with this decision, the company will expand the input capacity to 110,000 sheets per month by the third quarter of 2007. The input capacity of P7 averaged 78,000 sheets per month in the fourth quarter of 2006.P7 (1950 X 2250mm glass substrate) is optimized for the production of 42-inch and 47-inch LCD TV panels and LG.Philips LCD expects that the capacity expansion at P7 will enable the company to promptly respond to the demands of its customers amid the rapid growth of the 42-inch and 47-inch LCD TV markets.


The company believes that this move will help strengthen its market leadership and competitiveness as well as enhance its presence in the global LCD TV market.
