Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has announced the “SUMUDDJ-LS101,” a new mobile terrestrial digital TV broadcast reception module (industry’s smallest). Murata reduced the module’s surface area to about 1/2 that of its current product by integrating components using an embedded substrate and other technologies. According to Murata Manufacturing Co, this new product enables new developments including a tuner as small as an SD memory card. The Murata SUMUDDJ-LS101 module features variable bandpass filter (BPF) that removes interfering radio at its input area. Murata also insists it realized high-sensitive, flat reception of every channel by modifying the module design to reduce as much noise (spurious element) as possible that gets into the analog circuit from the digital circuit. Average reception sensitivity is -110 dBm when converted to mobile TV broadcast frequency band.
The module measures 8.7 x 9.6 x 1.5 mm. Murata demonstrated this product’s concept at the “CEATEC Japan 2006” event held at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan from October 3 to 7, 2006.
