Samsung ranked first in Flat TV sales for a seventh straight quarter

Samsung has maintained the top spot in the world TV market for a seventh consecutive quarter. According to a quarterly report on the global TV market by consultancy firm Display Search on Thursday, Samsung Electronics ranked first in sales for a seventh straight quarter and first in volume for a fifth straight quarter. Samsung snagged a 17.7 percent share of the overall TV market by sales and a 13.8 percent share by volume.


Samsung was the leader in the global LCD TV sector by both sales and volume, with an 18.4 percent market share by sales and a 16.8 percent share by volume. Sony and Sharp trailed Samsung in sales with 15.1 percent and 12.5 percent, respectively. By volume, SONY ranked second with 11.3 percent of the market followed by Sharp with 10.8 percent.
