Underwater ceremony held to welcome new employees in Japan

A different way to welcome new employees was tried at an aquarium in western Japan…a ceremony held underwater. The Toba Aquarium in Mie Prefecture welcomed 2 new employees. A man and a woman wearing diving gear and business suits dove into a large water tank 5.5 meters deep, filled with tropical fish.

During the ceremony, the president of the company operating the aquarium read the letter of appointment outside the water tank. On behalf of the new employees, Shiho Endo received the letter in the water tank from a senior employee.
