Nissan unveiled the all-new Teana in China on Tuesday, with the flagship model central to expansion plans in the world’s biggest auto market. China is key to building on the sustained success of the outgoing Teana, which has achieved more than 700,000 sales in the nation since its introduction locally in 2004. The new, fully redesigned sedan draws on Nissan’s global development strengths, embodying the best aspects of the current Teana and the U.S. market Altima, which debuted last year. Fuel economy – and acceleration – is boosted by a new engine, matched to the latest Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
The new flagship model is key to expansion in the world’s biggest auto market. A host of technologies, including safety features usually found in luxury vehicles and a new rear multilink suspension system, emphasize the Teana’s high-end characteristics. China’s Teana, to be manufactured at Dongfeng Nissan’s plant in Xiangyang, Hubei province, is set to go on sale in the country next month.
