Toyota will invest about 4.9 billion Yen ($60.57 million) to increase its vehicle production capacity in India by 40 percent in 2012 to meet growing demand in the country. Toyota on Monday launched the much awaited compact hatchback – Toyota Etios Liva in the Indian market. The Liva hatchback borrows a number of styling and designing cues from Toyota Etios sedan, which was launched in India in December 2010. The Liva hatchback comes equipped with 1197cc petrol engine which is capable of generating a peak power of 80 PS at 5600 rpm along with a peak torque of 104Nm at 3100 rpm. The Toyota Etios Liva is claimed to be offering an exceptional mileage of 18.31 kmpl.

Toyota’s output capacity at its two car-manufacturing plants in India will be raised to a combined 210,000 units from the current 150,000 units in the first half of next year. The move comes amid strong sales of its cars in the country, including the Etios sedan dedicated to the Indian market.
