LG Uplus, South Korean cellular carrier owned by LG has launched in South Korea an IoT helmet designed to help mitigate the risks and dangers laborers are exposed to at construction sites. The IoT Helmet from LG Uplus is equipped with an LTE modem, camera, LTE-based communications module, and a GPS chip. The IoT Helmet allows for real-time site monitoring, tracking down workers’ locations, and improving communication efficiency between the control center and the active workers.
In case of emergency, workers wearing the helmet can stream a HD live-feed to the control center. LG Uplus will provide the operators of the helmets with its self-developed cloud-based control platform, which can be accessed via both PC and smartphone.
