VTech unveiled a new Smart Watch for kids on March 13, 2015. The VTech’s Kidizoom Smartwatch is available in Japan from its distributor Takara Tomy for approximately 8.618 yen ($71). The Play Watch comes with a 1.41-inch touch-sensitive LCD panel and 128 Mbytes of built in memory, sound recorder and camera. The design of the screen can be selected from 50 different designs.
Kids can play games on the smart phone and also record sound via the built in microphone. The camera can shoot pictures as well as videos. User can store about 800 pictures, about six minutes of 320 x 240-pixel video or about 15 minutes of 160 x 120-pixel video. Stored pictures and videos can be transferred to a personal computer via a USB cable.
The built-in rechargeable battery of the watch can also be charged via a USB cable. The watch cannot be connected to a network such as wireless LAN. It comes in four colors: white, pink, blue and purple. Tomy Play Watch is available in Japan for ¥8,618 (approx $71, including tax).
